Position Paper On The Police Bill

This position paper evaluates the Bill from a human rights
perspective, assessing its compliance with African human rights standards,
including the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) and the
African Commission Guidelines on the Policing Assemblies in Africa, and
international human rights standards such as the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights (ICCPR) as well as the Guidelines for the implementation of the UN Basic
Principles on the use of force and firearms by law enforcement officials.
